The David Payne stable had a winning 2YO double at Canterbury on Wednesday with Russian Revolution filly Krasina following her stablemate Persian Wonder into the winner’s circle.

Like Persian Wonder, Krasina was also ridden by Zac Lloyd, who kept her out of trouble one out and one back before allowing her to surge into the race with a well timed run.

Fourth, second and third at her previous three runs this prep, Krasina put it all together this time to forge clear and win the 1200m maiden by more than a length.

“It was good to put her in a spot where you are not relying on luck and the form was there, she was the best horse in the race, so I rode her accordingly and she has done that very comfortably,” said Zac Lloyd.

A bargain $15,000 Inglis HTBA Yearling purchase from Kingstar Farm for her trainer, Krasina is a half-sister to this season’s Group II winning 3YO Single Choice and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from stakes-winning Sebring mare Sebring Sally.

Sebring Sally has not had a foal since Krasina, but was covered last spring by Artorius.

Krasina is the sixth 2YO winner this season for Russian Revolution and they include undefeated New Zealand trained Group I winner Lara Antipova.

Russian Revolution is in the Top 10 Australian sires this season by winners and is well priced this spring at Newgate at just $33,000.
