Bought with the hopes of being a stallion prospect, gelding might be the making of talented Extreme Choice three year-old Pimlico, who was an impressive winner at Randwick on Monday.
A $1.2million Inglis Easter purchase from Newgate Farm for Rosemont Stud / Suman Hedge Bloodstock, Pimlico had five starts last year in the John O’Shea/ Tom Charlton stable and a Kembla maiden win was his best result.
Gelded before returning to work this year, Pimlico has quickly delivered on potential with a first up win at Gosford in a Class 1 at the start of this month seeing him sent out favourite for a Benchmark 72 today with Zac Lloyd to ride.
Pimlico produced his best work late to beat older rivals by more than a length and looks a moral to work through his grades this year with his overall record now three wins and two placings from seven starts with earnings topping $111,000.
Bred by SF Bloodstock and foaled and raised at Newgate, Pimlico is the third and best winner from three foals to race from imported stakes-winner Coco as in Chanel (USA), whose next two dams are also stakes-winners.
Coco as in Chanel has another yearling colt by Extreme Choice and was covered by him again after having a year off.
