A homebred for Belinda Bateman, blueblood three year-old I am Invincible filly Ballet D’Light made a winning debut at Rosehill on Wednesday.
Trained by Chris Waller, Ballet D’Light has been quite the work in progress with five barrier trials prior to her race day debut, the last of those a win at Rosehill on October 2.
She surged forward from the gates for James McDonald to lead and skipped away after turning for home to win the 1100m maiden by a length and a half.
Whatever Ballet D’Light does as a racehorse is a bonus as she has a big pedigree that will see her as a valuable broodmare for the future.
Foaled and raised at Newgate for Belinda Bateman, Ballet D’Light is a three-quarter sister-in-blood to Group I winner and now champion young sire Home Affairs.
She is the first foal of unraced Redoute’s Choice mare Danserai D’Amour, a sibling to dual Group I winning sire Russian Revolution, Group III winner Turbo Miss and to the dam of Home Affairs, who is also by I Am Invincible.
Danserai D’Amour was on-sold through the Newgate Consignment at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale this year in foal to Too Darn Hot (GB) for $500,000 to Yulong and has produced a colt from that mating for them this spring.
