She was the only 2YO filly in the open fillies and mares 1150m maiden at Randwick on Wednesday and Celestial Charm showed her rivals a clean pair of heels with a brilliant turn of foot.
Second on debut at Canterbury two weeks ago on a heavy track, the Michael Freedman trained filly appreciated a firmer surface this time around and gave Tommy Berry a sit and steer job to win.
She controlled the race from the outset and when he asked her to dash clear with a furlong to run, Celestial Charm was quick to respond and opened up three lengths on her nearest rival.

“She’s a smart filly and took good benefit from her experience at Canterbury. From Tommy’s comments last time she just didn’t appreciate the heavy 8 track there and with an improved surface today we were quietly confident and she delivered,” said stable representative Ben Duckworth.
Tommy Berry has been aboard Celestial Charm in both of her race starts and her two trials this preparation.
“She’s always been very professional and what she lacks in size, she makes up for with a big heart,” he said.
“I rode her like the best horse in the race and she kicked away and won as you would expect.”
Raised at Newgate for her breeder Matthew Sandblom, Celestial Charm was a $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from Newgate and carries the colours of her breeder.
She is a full sister to smart metro winner Esha and is the third winner from four foals to race from Group I winning I Am Invincible mare I Am a Star.
I Am a Star has a yearling filly by Extreme Choice that made $575,000 at Magic Millions this year and she appears to be in foal again to Extreme Choice after missing the previous year.
Celestial Charm is the fifth 2YO winner this season for Extreme Choice from just seven runners and three are Group winners Paradoxium, Hidrix and Berzelius, who runs this Saturday in the Group IBRC JJ Atkins Stakes at Eagle Farm.
