The Inglis Australian Weanling Sale showcased some of the first youngsters by our young gun sires Ozzmosis and King’s Gambit, two exciting young stallions by champion sires Zoustar and I Am Invincible.
Ozzmosis had four youngsters sell for $100,000 or more and his top three were all bought by renowned judge Jim Carey, who has a great knack for identifying pinhooking talent for next year.
Top seller for Ozzmosis was the half-brother to stakes-winner Sovereign Fund from Group placed mare Mossbeat that made $165,000 for Glenbeigh Farm with Fairview Park Stud’s colt from Canary not far behind selling for $130,000.
King’s Gambit made quite a splash when his colt from Group III winning mare Karavali fetched $265,000 for Davali Thoroughbreds when snapped up by Jim Carey.
The colt is a three-quarter brother to stakes-placed I Am Invincible mare Canara and was bred by Randwick Bloodstock and partners with Brett Howard thrilled with the result.
“She’s a lovely style of mare, She throws a really good physical and I think King’s Gambit is one of the nicest-looking stallions in the Hunter Valley,” he said.
“Obviously, he’s a three-quarter relation to Canara, and so the mare’s nicked well with I Am Invincible. It’s a good mating. It’s produced a lovely colt and we’ve sent the mare straight back to King’s Gambit and she is in foal to him again.”
Ozzmosis is priced this spring at $44,000 and King’s Gambit at $22,000.
