A share in Newgate Farm’s champion sire Extreme Choice was traded at the Magic Millions National Sale on Tuesday with Julia Ritchie of Bangaloe Stud the successful purchaser at $735,000 and she featured on the buyer’s list on Wednesday when securing quality mare Thalassophile for $850,000.
Offered in the Newgate Consignment, Group III winning Not a Single Doubt mare Thalassophile was offered in foal to Ole Kirk in her season season at stud after missing in her first.
A beautiful mare from a family packed with Black Type, Thalassophile ticks a lot of boxes and Ritchie was thrilled to secure her after missing out on serval others.
“Finally the bride, not a bridesmaid, thank God,” she said.
“I was looking for some nice quality mares. I’ve been investing in some really lovely stallion breeding rights – I was very fortunate to get the Extreme Choice yesterday – and I’m looking to buy more mares to enhance that purchase.
“You still like to see a mare that’s got good Black Type somewhere in its form.
“I think, as a type, she’ll let down into a nice mare, she’s still in the early stages, but she has a lot of upside and the family was great as well.”
